Sonja Lampinen has been playing the accordion for over four years. Her
teachers are Teijo Rekonen and Marjo Petrescu. Sonja likes performing
and is often the delight of people in nursing homes and care homes. In
February, Sonja tried singing with an accordion in a “Junior Star”
competition, and got through to the final round. Sonja's hobbies include

 | Jonna Hytönen, Äänekoski Piece: Mikkihiiri merihädässä (säv. Georg Malmsten, sov. V. Ahvenainen) 10-year-old Jonna Hytönen began playing the accordion at the age of 6 at the local community college, and now she is in the third year at the Ala-Keitele Music Institute. Silja Makkonen is Jonna’s teacher. In addition to playing the accordion, Jonna is interested in nature, particularly birds and other animals. Jonna has lots of friends and a few pen pals.
|  | Pilvi Huhta, Vihti Piece: On neidolla punapaula (trad. P. Nielsen) 8-year-old Pilvi Huhta has been playing the accordion for five years. Pilvi’s mother is an accordion teacher, so the instrument choice came naturally. At the Western Uusimaa Music Institute Pilvi’s teacher is Heidi Velamo. In addition to playing, Pilvi’s hobbies are dancing and drawing. This vivacious girl also loves to play with her toys.
|  | Sara Niittyviita, Hollola
Piece: Meksikon pikajuna (Gerhard Mohr, sov. V. Ahvenainen) 10-year-old Sara Niittyviita has been playing the accordion for about three years. Her teacher at the Lahti Conservatory is Jerzy Zywuszczak. Sara also plays the guitar and piano, and says she also loves singing. Sara is also a passionate athlete. Her summer sports are orienteering, cross country running, and track and field. In the winter she competes in skiing and also skating. Sara likes to perform and does a lot of gigs throughout the year.
|  | Isla Rekola, Lohja
Piece: La Cucaracha-La Bamba (trad. sov. L. Holm-E.Nissinen) 9-year-old Isla Rekola announced at the age of two that she wanted to play the accordion. Her enthusiasm just grew and Isla was able to start playing a month after she reached the age of five. Her teacher is Marjo Suominen. Isla is very keen on swimming, also likes to draw, read books and play computer games. This active girl has a lot of friends.
|  | Linda Ullgrén, Kontiolahti Piece: Tangoprinsessa (säv. J. Rasinkangas, sov. Aki P. Hietala) 8-year-old Linda Ullgrén has been playing the accordion for two years. Her teacher at Joensuu Conservatory is Sirpa Matikainen. In Linda’s view, playing the accordion is fun, because it gives her access to perform and enter competitions. She has noticed that the audience likes her playing and it makes her feel good. Figure skating is a favourite sport. Drawing and handicrafts are her favourite activities, and she also goes to art school.
|  | Viola Ojanen, Karkkila Piece: Lapin äidin kehtolaulu (säv. K. Hämäläinen, sov. S. Leino) 9-year-old Viola Ojanen has heard the accordion playing since she was a baby, because the family has many accordion players, including the winner of the Golden Accordion Katariina Ahjoniemi, who is Viola's aunt. Viola is taught by Marjo Suominen and Sofia Ahjoniemi. In addition to playing the accordion, Viola enjoys drawing, painting, and other arts. In the summer, Viola's favourite pastime is fishing.
